Cork Bark Japanese Maple
Acer palmatum
Age: appx. 20
This is a great non-grafted species with a beautiful trunk. It is a very young tree and has lots of branches that still need to be developed. We will begin approach grafting next spring, be sure to join us for a workshop! Approach grafting is done by drilling small holes into tree and placing long whips into holes. This process will place branches in an ideal location on the trunk from areas new growth would not typically form. This tree will be in development for several years. It originally was procured from Brussel’s Bonsai, in Olive Branch, Mississippi.
